Kilio is growing up very quickly and is defending himself against the, until now still dominant siblings Rafiki and Alika. He grows and grows and although he is still a bit clumsy with his unporportionally large paws and long legs he is becoming more confident on those legs and also becoming a confident dog. He is not the best in training, doesn’t listen to his name very well and ignores us humans a lot. He is however, very good with the touch screen work and concentrates very well which we did not expect, as he is not usually very cooperative on the leash and he quickly loses interest in normal training sessions. He has been like this since we started training him, when he was little, the greatest reward for him in a session was to be able to finish the session and continue playing with the other pups. He has improved a lot since then and likes participating in training during the beginning of a session, he just has to learn to concentrate for longer which we know he is capable of as he demonstrates it daily in his touch screen sessions!
Also Kilio really lives up to his name! “Kilio” means “Scream” in Suaheli. He always has to proclaim at the top of his voice, if something is not to his sweet will. Often he is stomping around while grumbling noisily, without one is able to recognize the reason for complaining. It seems that he often doesn’t know on his own why he currently has to complain about something.
He already showed this behavior since we took him out from a Hungarian shelter at the age of 9 days. Already then he fell into loud screaming immediately when we for example turned him on the back to check him for injuries. It didn’t change until today. If the bigger play mates bring him into an unpleasant position for example, immediately this hast to be proclaimed loudly. But since Kilio already is quite huge for his age, in most of the cases he is able to fight back successfully.
Generally Kilio seems to have plenty of brawn. If you touch him you really can feel that this little guy is overflowing with energy. In comparison to his brother Maisha, Kilio is nearly twice as big. Anyhow, he and Maisha are bossom bodies and most of the time they are buccaneering together against the big pups.
Nontheless they prefer playing with each other and do not handle each other quite daintily during play. Together they bowl around on the floor, mutually bite each other into the ears or tail, or chase each other until they become tired. After the common play, they finally end up in cuddling each other. Often they lie together closely entangled and are comfortable snoozing on the couch.
