In the last few days the wolves had perfect weather and the humans also enjoyed the bright sunshine. In the night it is still freezing, so there is always some ice around the water bowl in the enclosure.
The wolves had some days off at Christmas, too. There were no tests or experiments scheduled these days, so they enjoed their daily training with Zsófia and Kurt even more. Also, Bolita liked to play with the puppies once again for some time.
We used these quiet days to do some of the standardised walks. All of the wolves were exited about the extra exercise, everyone had a go and no one liked returning to the enclosure after only half an hour.
Especially Yukon would have rather run through the forest and chased some mice (or deer?) than going home. Finally she found a very interesting piece of wood, which she took inside the enclosure with her.
Geronimo looked as beautiful and self-confident as his famous Indian namesake in the evening sun. Even Apache was not timid at all when he was outside all on his own, just with two humans and a dog for companionship. Therefore he could run around at the meadow below the castle and play a little more with Bolita.
It always takes some time to get the wolf to the track and back to the enclosure, because they all find so many interesting things in the frozen leaves on the floor and everywhere else.
Only Cherokee is a bit lazy. He likes to watch the world while sitting rather than sniffing and running around like the others.
Today at noon Kaspar went out with Kurt for a visitors´ walk. The pack was howling even louder and longer than usual when their boss went away. He was behaving like a good Alpha wolf and left his odour mark on every important point. When not doing so, he was moving in a nice wolves trot, but the human beings had some trouble following him and his speed.
We decided to not feed them until tomorrow, because they too put on some weight during the holidays.
So they just got some dry food and then a very recreative day came to an end.
