My name is Carina and I'm studying zoology at the University of Vienna. Since early October, I have been at the Wolf Science Center and I am working on my masterthesis about cooperation between human and wolf and human and dogs.
For my work our bosses and coaches make standardized walks on a long leash with the dogs and wolves. During these walks learned commands like sit and down are required from the animal. (Maybe you have discovered during your last visit marked wood piles at the roadside? These are the marks for the various commands.)
I videotape all the walks to compare the cooperation between our dogs and wolves later on the computer. Maybe there will be differences, and I’m interested in what they are. For example, whether wolves behave independently and take longer to execute commands than dogs?
I'm very excited about my results and hope that I'll get a lot of meaningful data.
