Work at WSC wouldn´t be possible without our students. Mostly at the end of their course of studies, they stay here for at least three months to do an internship or to write their masters- or diploma-thesis. Besides their scientific work they also help with daily stuff and support the trainers and me. They clean the enclosures with Alex, assist with the tests and the shifting of the animals from one enclosure to the other. They also do guided tours and sell souvenirs in the gift-shop. Thereby they get to know different aspects of our project and learn many things they will need later, like talking to a group of people, for example.
The students also have all kinds of nationalities which produces a nice multicultural flair at WSC.
Of course we all are very sad when one student is leaving. On Sunday for example we had to say goodbye to Ewelina, who was here the second time already and now finished her experiments about numerical discrimination in the grey wolf. We are very grateful for her help.
But we also are happy to see new faces, like Laura from Germany, who is becoming a biology teacher, and the master-student Lucia from Italy. They also will perform interesting studies and thereby push the whole project a little further.
