On Wednesday the annual works outing of the Konrad Lorenz Research Station from Grünau took place at the Wolf Science Center. Herein their members could gain insight into the research conducted at the WSC and how our wolves are trained and worked with. After a short lunch break and the important security instructions, the researchers - guided by Prof. Dr. Kotrschal, Dr. Friederike Range and Trainer Bea Belenyi - were finally able to attend the long-desired pack meeting in which they could interact with the animals at close range. However, highlight of the day was a short leashed walk with our youngest wolves, Wapi and Kenai. At the end of the day, many sparkling eyes could be recognized and I am sure, the next annual works outing will take place at the Wolf Science Center again. Besides, Wednesday started the long-desired construction work regarding the treadmill which is specially built for the wolves and will be used for scientific research. Because of the construction work, however, trainer Bea decided without further ado to take Nanuk´s pack for a little walk within the wild park. Tatonga, Geronimo as well as Yukon who was visited by her godfather caused many sparkling eyes and happy faces. Naturally, alpha Nanuk could catch some fresh air, too, and filled our visitors with enthusiasm.
