Diary entry, 05.01.2010, Sebastian Vetter
Again a year is over already. At this point we want to wish all the readers of our diary a happy and successful new year!
Despite all the new year rockets and the firecrackers our wolves came through the night of New Years' Eve very well. We all were really curious how the wolves would react to this new experience, since it was the first real New Years' Eve for all of them. Although the big ones had already a New Years' Eve in Grünau, due to the solitude there was not a difference to any other night. All of them were relatively relaxed and did not panic. Thanks to that, Rita, Friederike and Flo, who stayed with the wolves could also relax and have a nice and relaxed New Years' Eve.
Due to Christmas and New Years' Eve during the last weeks there was not as much going on at the WSC as usual because many of us enjoyed being at home with our families during the feast days. Now, however, the days are as busy as ever. During the last days we already did a lots of tests, trainings and walks. And when Bea arrived yesterday everything ran at full blast again. In the morning the small ones worked at the touchscreen and in the afternoon the big ones had to do my tests. In the meanwhile they had another touchscreen session and even did the learning set. In the evening, after the walk with Cherokee and two visitors the small ones had a training session on the exchange apparat. For the first time Apache and Cherokee pushed the slide back with their nose properly.
Today, however, we needed to do some more practical tasks. The whole pack was moved into the puppy enclosure, so we could do the enclosure cleaning. We also took the chance and repaired the door of the tunnel. Since the handle was badly damaged by the wolves, they were almost able to open the door themselves, so it was a really urgent task.
After we let them back, the wolves got to do a fun searching game, because when they were still in the puppy enclosure, we hid some meat and fur in the big enclosure. Obviously, they all searched really enthusiastically for the hidden food.
After a digestion break over noon the usual program of tests and training sessions went on and Shima had her turn to go on a walk with two visitors.
