Diary entry, 02.06.2011, Susanne Wißhak
On Friday, 3rd of June, which means tomorrow, the big day has come: Our first Howl-Night is taking place. We will meet in the evening, sit around a campfire, tell stories and listen to the wolves howling. This event already exists at a Wolf Park in Indiana, USA, which has served us as a role model and of which we did not only get the idea for the Howl-Nights ;-) If you are interested check out their website:

As it is the first time for us to organize such an event, we are very excited.
During the days we notice that the school year comes to its end. Lots of students are visiting us in June and spend excursions at the Wildpark Ernstbrunn. We are especially happy about this because one of our main goals is to show young people a realistic picture of wolves.
Our animals are all well, except for Binti, who appeared a little hackly during the last weeks. Now we found that she is allergic of several kinds of meet, as well as dust-mites and all other kinds of things. So dogs can be victims of allergies as well. At least she is not the only one suffering, because a whole bunch of humans at WSC have hay fever. Unfortunately I am one of them, so forgive me if some of my tours should happen to sound a little snuffy.
