My name is Marianne Heberlein. I finished last year my master study in Animal Behaviour at the University Zurich (Switzerland). During my Master thesis I investigated cognitive abilities of dogs. I investigated the dog’s ability on refinding hidden food; the relative importance of visual and olfactory cues, their ability on finding hidden food by observing and interacting with a conspecific and their episodic-like memory of dogs.
Subsequent to my master thesis I got the great chance to start with a PhD at the University of Zurich. I will investigate the influence of domestication on the dog’s ability to understand the perception of humans. Furthermore, I will investigate deceptive-like behaviour in dogs.
I’m very grateful that I got the chance to stay for two months at the Wolf Science Center and that I’m allowed to collaborate. Already during the few days I’m in Erstbrunn I learned a lot about the behaviour of wolves.
