We get four new puppies from the Triple D game farm in Montana, America. To bring them home we had to drive by car from Montana to New York, where they can get on the plane and back to Austria.
Now I am back at Wolf Park, Indiana and Bea, the puppies and the Filmteam – Barbara and Ferdinand drove to New York on their own.
We left the Triple D Farm on Monday evening. In total we had to drive about 4000 km. On Tuesday we left Missoula, Montana but soon we had to stop because we had problems with our car. The breaks were not working well. We had to wait a couple of hours to get another car.
We drove through all different types of weather we have seen the Rocky Mountains in the sun, in rain, fog and snow.
As soon we had our new car we decided to drive through the whole night and the next days so that we can manage the trip in time. The sunrise was wonderful on Wednesday morning. We planed to arrive at Wolf Park on Wednesday night but through the weather it was not possible. A very hard rain and thunder came up and we thought it might be saver to rest at a motel and continue the travel tomorrow. We did so. Finally on Thursday we arrived at Wolf Park and they had already prepared their puppy room. We brought our puppies in it and they could move around. It was very quiet so that they could sleep very well.
We were a bit worried about our males because they were not eating very well. The vet had a look at them and told us when they start eating again we can continue the travel. So we stayed here at Wolf Park for one and a half day. The puppies really enjoyed their rest and started eating again. We were very happy about it.
With the big female we did already the first experiment. She had to choose between an unfamiliar and a familiar person and between an unfamiliar dog and an unfamiliar person. It was nice to see her choices but in the experiment with the dog, she was curious about the dog but even afraid of him.
Friday night – at 3 o´clock in the morning Bea, the puppies, Barbara and Ferdinand continued the trip to New York after a very hard weather had past the park.
In this case I thank Jay Deist and all the Staff members from the Triple D Game Farm for helping us to prepare everything for the long and hard trip. And I will thank Dr. Erich Klinghammer and all the staff members of Wolf Park. We were very happy to be allowed to have a stop here so that the puppies and even we could have a rest.
Welcome to the Wolf Science Center we hope they like their new home in Austria.
