I studied Biology at the University of Bayreuth in Germany. For my masters, I conducted field research on sooty mangabeys (a terrestrial monkey species) in West Africa investigating the social system of the adult females.
After finishing my Diploma, I started my PhD at the University of Pennsylvania (USA). I continued my research on sooty mangabeys, investigating in more detail the social behavior of adult and juvenile sooty mangabeys as well as their cognitive abilities.
When I finished my PhD, I returned to Europe, first investigating the individual learning abilities of ravens at the Konrad-Lorenz Forschungsstelle in Grünau, before starting a PostDoc position in the EDICI project at the University of Vienna. In the last three years, I examined together with many students, the social and individual learning abilities in marmosets and dogs.
